Part 2: Benchmarks, Standards, and Common Core, Oh My!

Last week I wrote about some of my thoughts on district, state, and national standards. This week I would like to share someone else's thoughts. Joshua Katz gave a TEDx Talk in 2015 about standardized testing (based of course on common standards) and the damage it does to our students. His opinion is of course is only one of many, and you can take from him what you will. Based on my years of experience inside public education, I think his take on the situation is spot-on. If you are a homeschool parent worried about if you are doing 'enough' or the 'right' things: this will help ease your mind.
